Great thought, Joseph!.
I can't comment from personal experience but I've seen source that say it's not bad. I'm skeptical though, because I saw very few resources on the islands or inner villages, and any significant issues would require someone to take a ferry or car to a big city. That's not very reassuring if something is urgent.
One needs to consider whether they'll be there for a short time (with limited healthcare risk) or a longer time such as snowbirding or expat living (with a higher risk of needing healthcare services).
We were there for 3 weeks and we're healthy so I wasn't worried.
Thanks for bringing up the topic - it's an important one for aging retirees.
