To answer the question... It's better. (my opinion).

Lifespan, happiness, wealth, equity, inclusion, compassion. All better, but still a lot of room to improve. Somewhere I read that the happiest time in US history was 1957. Yet nobody would want to go back there and live without microwaves, health care, credit cards ... or civil rights.
