True, and I know that most people don’t have lives like these ‘ideal’ characters! They were more of a model than a real-life couple.

I did consider adding in some alternate outcomes — like you describe, but it’s a slippery slope since there are so many situations. I’d probably end up with a full-length book if I tried (which I have been pondering, BTW).
